Chanfrau and Chanfrau has been handling
motor vehicle accidents for 48 years.
In the state of Florida, you do not
need to carry bodily injury insurance.
It's not a requirement
in the state of Florida.
Unfortunately, we see cases all the time
where a client comes in and the driver
that caused the accident doesn't have
bodily injury insurance.
At the end of the day, the only way to
protect yourself is to purchase something
called uninsured or
underinsured motorist coverage.
That's the only way you can ensure that
you are protected in the event
you get into a car accident.
The state of Florida does require
two different types of coverages.
First is property damage coverage,
and two, something called personal injury
protection benefits or PIP benefits.
They're also called no-fault benefits, and
those benefits apply whether
you cause the accident or not.
The first thing you should do if you're
in a motor vehicle accident is call 911.
It's very important that law enforcement
come to the scene,
an investigation occurs, and that
you obtain an accident report.
Second thing you need to do is take photos
at the scene of not only your vehicle,
but the other party's vehicle.
Third thing you need to do is make sure
that whether you believe you're injured or
not is to seek follow up medical care and
get checked within 14 days of the
accident, so that you secure
personal injury protection benefits
in the event you do have any problems.
If you do not seek medical care within 14
days of the accident,
you lose those benefits.
When a client hires me to handle their
auto accident case,
they should be confident that they are
getting an experienced lawyer
that knows what he's doing.
I've handled thousands of car
accident cases in the past.
Every case is unique.
Every case has its own merits.
More importantly, clients need to know
that when they have me handle their case,
I also understand the medicine.
At the end of the day, the clients want
to make sure that their bills are paid.
