MR. WILLIAM CHANFRAU, SR.: Children that are attacked by dogs are some of the most vulnerable victims that you can imagine. They begin a lifetime fear of animals, they are frequently disfigured from injuries, they don't like seeing doctors, they don't like stitches it scares them to death and especially if the injuries are to the face of small girls. The dog attacks can just be devastating not only to the child but frequently to the family.
MS. JEANINE PATTERSON: We were at a birthday party actually out in the country and it was a relative's birthday party so it was rather awkward. One of the dogs that they had was older and my daughter just walked by it, looked at the dog and I think she got a little close and the dog snapped and pretty much took half of her nose off of her face.
We had to pursue it legally. I tried by myself initially talking to the insurance companies and they just wanted to give us like $100 dog bite you know kind of settlement and so I said no that's not going to work and they wanted us to sign off so that's when I called Bill and spoke with Roxie and we got it started and I'm very glad I did. I know I wouldn't have been able to pursue it the way that they did definitely.
