Whether you are a local or you're from out of state, our personal injury lawyers can help you get the money you need to recover and move on with life after a motorcycle accident.
Motorcycle Accidents in New Smyrna Beach
There are three major highways that cross through New Smyrna Beach, FL, and the city contains several poorly designed, often-congested intersections. Those factors combine to make New Smyrna Beach a particularly hazardous city for motorcyclists, as you can see by these accidents that have occurred in recent years:
- In August of 2023, the driver of a small motorcycle died when they got into a collision with a pickup truck at State Road 44 and Pioneer Trail in New Smyrna Beach.
- In April of 2023, a 53-year-old man operating a motorcycle on State Road 415 crossed over into the northbound lane, crashing into an SUV. He died at the scene of the accident.
- On the final Sunday of Bike Week 2022, a New Smyrna Beach man died from injuries sustained in a crash involving a motorcycle and another vehicle. The incident occurred at the intersection of U.S. 1/North Ridgewood Avenue and State Road 430/Mason Avenue.
- The first fatal accident of Bike Week 2021 occurred in New Smyrna Beach when a 57-year-old local man seemingly lost control of his bike and crashed on Pioneer Trail near Cypress Springs Parkway.

Accident Law Can Be Confusing
Accident law in Florida is different than in many other states. Florida is a no-fault insurance state, which means that drivers are required to carry insurance that will pay $10,000 in medical expenses regardless of who was at fault in a traffic accident. But what happens when your medical bills are worth more than $10,000? And what if you were only in Florida for Bike Week and you don't have no-fault insurance coverage? These scenarios can be confusing and stressful, but our lawyers have been representing accident victims in Florida for decades, and we can help you navigate even the most complicated accident cases.
We Can Help You
Our motorcycle accident lawyers have recovered over a billion for personal injury victims since 1976. We are a family-run firm focused on personal, compassionate service. Dangerous Intersections in New Smyrna Beach With Plans to Improve Them
Interstate 95, U.S. Route 1, and State Road 44 all pass through New Smyrna Beach, and their onramps, offramps, and interchanges are all risks for motorcycle and car accidents. Fortunately, the city has plans to improve certain intersections.
For example, traffic experts have been improving the safety of State Road 44. In 2020, smarter traffic signals were installed from Airport Road to 3rd Avenue that can better regulate the flow of traffic. But the city isn't done yet. The Florida Department of Transportation aims to make State Road 44 safer by constructing turn lane improvements at the Mission Drive/Wallace Road/Canal Street intersection. They also aim to find ways to make roundabouts along State Road 44 easier to navigate.
Until these improvements get put into place, however, motorcyclists can turn to Chanfrau & Chanfrau when accidents arise. We will always fight for fair compensation.
