Why Bunnell Believes in Us
A Track Record of Success
Our attorneys have helped victims of car accidents collect multimillion-dollar settlements and jury awards. We have recovered over a billion dollars for personal injury victims.
A Focus on Maximum Restitution
Our lawyers keep our firm at a manageable size. This means we do not struggle with the kinds of overhead that can lead other attorneys to rush cases to settlement at less than maximum value so they can pay for their own operating costs. Chanfrau & Chanfrau treats every client with compassion and never under-settles.
Pay Nothing Unless We Win
We take cases on a contingency basis. Contingency arrangements mean you do not have to pay us a cent unless we win your case. This allows our clients to remain unburdened by hourly attorney fees, and reassured that our only priority is a maximum victory on their behalf.
How We Fight for You
As a family law firm, we are committed to defending the rights of our fellow community members. You can count on our team, W. M. Chanfrau, Sr., William Chanfrau, Jr., and Kelly Chanfrau, to aggressively represent you. For decades, we have been battling against insurance companies and opposing counsel. We know their tactics in denying, devaluing, and delaying legitimate claims. With this knowledge, we can build cases that settle for maximum compensation or win the verdict you deserve in court. Let us handle the legal burden connected to your accident, so you can focus on recovering and moving forward in a positive direction.

In recent years, serious auto accidents resulting in injury have occurred too frequently in Bunnell, FL. According to the Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles Department, Flagler County averaged 988 car accident-related injuries per year between 2021 and 2023. Considering the county's population of 126,705 in 2022, that is a significant percentage of those living in and around Bunnell. State Road 100 and U.S. Highway 1, in particular, have been the scene of catastrophic accidents.
As the county seat of Flagler County, Bunnell is a small town with two major roads running through it. U.S. Highway 1, or State Street, passes through the center of Bunnell. Florida State Road 100 connects the town with Flagler Beach to the east and Palatka to the northwest. Along these two stretches of busy roadway, residents and visitors have experienced serious car accidents for years.
U.S. 1
This roadway is known for its speeding motorists and serious car crashes. The speed at which vehicles travel can be dangerous, particularly at certain intersections where it is difficult to merge into the fast-moving traffic. Pedestrians also cross the road, leading to fatalities.
On January 14, 2024, two women were killed and a Bunnell man was critically injured when a vehicle struck them as they crossed the road. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene. If he had stayed and rendered aid, the surviving pedestrian would have been charged with improperly crossing a roadway. Because the driver fled, it was investigated as a criminal case.
Problems with traffic engineering, speeding motorists, cell phone use, and alcohol consumption have made U.S. 1 even more dangerous.
State Road 100
On February 25, 2024, a woman was killed and four others were injured in a three-vehicle crash on State Road 100 in Bunnell. According to the report, a sedan was traveling east on State Road 100 when it crossed the center line and sideswiped a pickup truck with four occupants, causing the truck to lose control and crash into an SUV. Collisions like these are often due to driver negligence. A moment’s inattention – whether to check a phone, change the radio, or turn to look at a passenger – is all the time needed to cause a fatal car accident.

Another Rave Review for Our Car Accident Attorneys
“I have never had to use a lawyer before in my life, so I was skeptical to step into this arena. But Chanfrau & Chanfrau were incredibly kind and pleasant to work with. They were helpful, supportive, and made next steps easy to navigate. I was fearful of self-serving processes and money-hungry lawyers and paralegals, but I did not find this at all. You are in good hands with Chanfrau & Chanfrau.” Rick Bohner, 5-Star Google Review
Our Injury Lawyers Take Special Care to Build Your Case
/
To make a winning claim, we will identify the most relevant evidence to your case. This may include police reports and photographs taken at the scene. We will also use witness testimony and review medical records, which are particularly important in these cases since they connect the injuries to the car accident. Healthcare bills and records also serve as a major factor in calculating past and future losses, which serve to inform the amount you should be awarded in damages.
The Importance of Preserving Evidence
Hard evidence is the best tool our attorneys have for building a winning case. Many people keep all of their photographs and other evidence on their digital devices. This can mean your evidence is gone if your cell phone or computer breaks, malfunctions, or is lost.
There are several ways to safeguard your evidence, but the simplest way to do this is to email copies of your evidence to yourself. If you have important paperwork pertaining to your case, simply take a photo of it with your phone and then email the image to yourself. These simple steps make it easy to send evidence to your lawyer and ensure the protection of key information.

I retained her immediately. Kelly and her team were very responsive, sending me regular updates on my case, leading to a very satisfactory conclusion. She and her team were always professional, yet very friendly, as well." Joe Ranieri, 5-Star Google Review

Filing a Wrongful Death Claim
If your loved one succumbed to the injuries they sustained in a car accident, you can file a wrongful death claim for them. We know that the tragedy of a loved one's death cannot be lessened with money, but we hope it can ease your financial burden as you go through what may be the most difficult time in your life. A wrongful death claim can help Bunnell clients secure compensation for:
- Medical bills your loved one accrued while they were alive
- Lost wages your loved one would have secured for your family
- Loss of insurance and benefits your loved one provided
- Pain and suffering your loved one and family had to endure
The statute of limitations for filing a wrongful death claim in Florida is two years, meaning you have two years from the date of your loved one's death to take legal action. Failure to file paperwork by the deadline can result in your case being thrown out and your family missing out on much-needed compensation.
