Countless people visit the Daytona International Speedway each year for major races and events, including the Rolex 24 and Daytona 500. Injuries and accidents can happen any time and to anyone, which is why our personal injury attorneys are here.

Let’s briefly discuss some major racing events coming to Daytona International Speedway in the next few weeks. This will give you an idea of how many people will be in the area and what kinds of injuries and accidents might occur.

About the Rolex 24 At Daytona

Previously known as the 24 Hours At Daytona, the Rolex 24 is an annual 24-hour endurance race put on by the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) and held at Daytona International Speedway. The race attracts countless people to the area during the first weeks of the year.

BMW Endurance Challenge At Daytona

While the famous day-long endurance race for the Rolex 24 At Daytona was held in January, there is one last IMSA event associated with these remarkable endurance race. That’s the BMW Endurance Challenge, which will also be held at Daytona International Speedway. The final BMW Endurance Challenge will be held on Thursday, February 6th.

Gearing Up for the Daytona 500

The Rolex 24 and the BMW Endurance Challenge both lead into the Daytona 500 on Sunday, February 16th. Additional events will be held in the week leading up to the big race. More than 100,000 people will be in the area watching this iconic NASCAR event.

Given the sheer amount of people visiting Daytona International Speedway and the surrounding area, there is a greater likelihood of injuries. More people means more traffic and a higher risk of other dangers.

Increased Risk of Auto Collision with More People in the Area

With hundreds of thousands of people visiting the area, there’s bound to be more traffic on the road and more pedestrians taking in the joys of Daytona Beach. That also means greater risk of auto collisions, pedestrian accidents, and crashes involving bicyclists.

While we love the influx of people to the area given our strong ties of racing and automotive know-how, we also have to acknowledge the dangers of so many enthusiasts in one place together. Even if you’re driving safe, a drunk driver or someone acting irresponsibly can cause a collision affecting you and your loved ones.

Increased Risk of Slips and Falls with Many Tourists Present

The road isn’t the only source of injuries. Businesses in and around Daytona Beach thrive thanks to people attending races and events at Daytona International Speedway. Yet more patronage means more of a risk of injury. Slip and fall accidents and other kinds of harm can occur.

Businesses and property owners need to be diligent, ensuring the safety of all visitors from out of town as well as regulars from Volusia County. When employees or property owners are negligent, the chance of serious injuries goes up. That’s why our attorneys are here to hold negligent parties accountable for any harm they cause.
